FAQs
When do I need to arrive?
You should arrive at the SeaSports hut on The Stade about 15 minutes before your booking time. This gives you time to check in, sign any waivers, get fitted with your safety equipment, and be ready for the safety briefing on the beach before your session starts.
What should I bring?
We recommend bringing:
- Swimwear or clothes you don’t mind getting wet
- A towel
- Sunscreen (on sunny days)
- Water to stay hydrated
Wetsuits are available to rent if needed.
Are wetsuits provided?
Wetsuits are available to rent. All participants are provided with buoyancy aids, which must be worn at all times.
Do I need experience?
No experience is necessary. Kayak & paddle board hire are suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced paddlers. We provide a full safety briefing and basic skills guidance before you go on the water.

What is the minimum age?
The minimum age to take part is 7 years old.
What happens if the conditions are not safe?
If weather or sea conditions are unsafe, sessions may be cancelled. If this happens:
- You will be contacted on the day
- You can reschedule your session or receive a full refund
If we deem the conditions to be safe but you choose not to attend, you may be able to reschedule the session however you will not be liable to a refund.
How far out can I go?
Please see the map to refer to how far out you can go.
If you are new to paddle boarding or kayaking we recommend staying within the harbour area (the blue line)
Are there changing rooms?
Yes, there are unattened hanging rooms are available at the Sea Sports centre.
Please note these are no facilities for keeping your belongings in the changing rooms.
Can I leave my belongings with you?
We don’t have lockers, but for a small donation to The Sports Trust charity, we can store your belongings inside the centre.
Please note: while we do our best to keep items safe, we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage.
Is there parking nearby?
Yes, there parking is available nearby:
- At the Harbour Arm
- At F51 car park
- At the bottom of Tontine Street
- Limited parking is also available on The Stade near the centre
Please note, Folkestone Sea Sports does not have it’s own car park.
Are there toilets nearby?
Yes, public toilets are located near Sandy’s Fish & Chips, close to Rocksalt.
Are refreshments available nearby?
Located behind SeaSports there is a cafe where you can purchase refreshments.
